Brookmeadow 2015

Your Labour team for Brookmeadow

Welcome to the Brookmeadow page

Three councillors serve Brookmeadow ward.

Currently (until 7th May 2015) they are:

Clive Butchins (Conservative)

Sam Dobin (Conservative)

Susan Maughan (Conservative)

On 7th May they will all retire and you will be able to vote for the following Labour candidates:

Jeremy Newmark

"Jeremy grew up in Borehamwood and has lived in the Brookmeadow Ward for most of his life.
Jeremy has a solid track record of campaigning on equality and community issues at regional and national levels.  He spent a number of years as both a director and trustee of Hertfordshire charity working on housing and homelessness issues.  During this period he campaigned to ensure that the Borough and Country Councils worked effectively to meet their responsibilities to local people.
Jeremy is a Government Relations and Public Affairs adviser and has twenty-four years of experience of professional engagement with national and local government.
Jeremy is standing for election to Hertsmere Borough Council because he is passionate about ensuring that local people get a fair deal.  He feels that all too often Borehamwood is treated as the ‘poor relation’ in Hertsmere with other parts of the Borough receiving better value from their local authority.  As a committed member of the Labour party Jeremy is committed to delivering change.  If elected Jeremy will prioritise working with local residents, business and community groups to ensure that as much effort is put into building new local infrastructure provision as is currently put into development of new housing.  He will also work to ensure that new housing provision is matched to genuine local need.  Jeremy feels strongly that local transport provision needs to be improved with greater investment and better services.
Jeremy is married with three children aged 15, 12 and 9.”

 Rebecca Schapira

Rebecca moved to Borehamwood over a year ago and has been privileged to experience the opportunities within the area, leaving her eager to play a part in shaping the community that she is now proudly part of. As a resident of Brookmeadow herself, she cares deeply about community concerns and has really enjoyed meeting many residents, community groups, charities and businesses and engaging them with important local priorities.

Professionally, Rebecca currently works as a Government advisor ensuring that she has a sound knowledge on the most pressing issues of today. She is extremely passionate about faith and cultural relations, both locally and on a national level, and is a keen promoter of gender equality.

Recognising the importance of Brookmeadow residents receiving sufficient public service provisions, Rebecca is standing for election to Hertsmere Borough Council as wants to address the growing local concerns in order to ensure Borehamwood remains a thriving community enjoyed by all of its residents.

Sam Lishak

Samantha has lived in Brookmeadow all her life. She knows first hand the opportunities and restrictions of living here, and if elected to the Council is especially keen to work on Doctors waiting times – it can take over 3 weeks to get an appointment. Samantha is keen to sort out the major transport issues in the area, from traffic to public transport - people of Borehamwood need to be consulted on any plans for our area!

Don't forget you can vote for all 3 Labour Candidates
